Recovery Cd Required
Hoping someone can help, my son has a Dell Latitude D620 laptop with XP Professional that we are trying to locate a Recovery CD for so we can revert the laptop back to the factory settings. We phoned Dell directly and were told we could buy one from any computer store. However, we have tried various computer shops but no one has one of these for sale. Does anyone know whereabouts in NZ I can get one? Thanks

Hi,
Welcome to the Community. You do not need the Win XP cd to revert back to factory settings. You will need to hold down the CTRL key and keep tapping on F11 to restore your computer back to factory settings. I dont think you will get a windows xp cd anymore, as Microsoft has stopped supporting it. You may want to try a local computer vendor in your area.
Thank you

Hi, thanks for that. Unfortunately we had already tried the CTRL key and F11 but for some reason nothing happens when we do this. Will keep trying to locate a disc.

terry1000,
Dell only started putting the recovery partitions on the later XP models. The earlier models do not have a recovery partition.
In the United States, did you try...
Request Backup Disks USA If in another Country, call Dell Tech Support in your Country.

Unfortunately Dell in NZ has told us because the laptop is out of warranty they cannot help and suggested any computer store will have the recovery cds. However we have tried numerous stores but no one is able to provide a CD. It seems to be a brick wall we are up against. Thank you for your suggestion anyway.
