Regarding LCD display problem in Dell Vostro 1520 Laptop

Hi

I am Arun

Need some help sorting out the display problem in my laptop (Vostro 1520). I've been using the laptop for nearly 3 years now, suddenly 3 months back the laptop LCD display started to show choppy colors, lines and cracked like impression on the monitor (not a literal one but a screen impression via choppy pixels).I don't have any idea what had caused the problem, I've tried updating the latest display driver,it acted normally after that but recently it had gone to the old ways > Choppy and cracked impression.Does this mean the end of the LCD monitor or the entire laptop ? do i have any ways to replace this LCD if its faulty via DELL?

NOTE : The Laptop runs via the charger due to low battery life

Two questions

1.  Does the system show the same faulty image on an external monitor?

2.  Does the system have an nVidia chip in it?

1. I haven't tried doing that

2.The laptop doesn't have nvidia chip in it.
