Reinstall Windows 7 from Recovery Partition on a Dell Inspiron N5110 laptop after FORMATING C: drive
Hi,
I desperately need HELP! I have formated my laptop Dell Inspiron N5110 and reinstall a copy of windows 7 after noticing several viruses running on my pc. But I didn't delete or format the Recovery Partition. The recovery partition is intact. I now want to recover my pc to the factory settings of the original windows but I do not know if it is possible and how. I didn't know that I could just use the Dell Datasafe from the beginning before formatting my pc (how stupid I am). I have given a letter to the Recovery partition (F:) and I know can see all the files included inside it. After searching for a while, some people suggesting to execute the following cmd under "Tools" dir (dir which I cannot find):
imagex /apply f:\dell\image\factory.wim 1 c:\
Can anyone please help me??? I really need help with this! Can anyone give me guidlelines what to do???
Thanks,
Chris.

Hi Chris,
Welcome to the Community. I used to have a Dell Link which could have helped you by restoring it using the Windows disc. However I was able to find link on the internet that could help using the disc. You can give that a try. Scroll down to Tips and Tricks.
To boot from CD, put in the disc, turn on computer and Press the F12 key at the Dell Logo, select CD/DVD and press enter and then press any key to boot from CD. At the Install Now screen, do not click on install now, click on Repair my computer at the bottom to access the recovery options.

Hope this helps.
Thank you

H Chris,
Yes you can try that link to see if that works. I have not seen anyone try using another systems Recovery discs to restore the computer, so I dont know if that will work or not.
Thank you
Royan

Hi Royan,
the thing is that there is no dir "tools" or "pcrestore.exe" file in the recovery partition and so I assume that is not gonna work.
However, I found this post suggesting a solution with WAIK
superuser.com/.../reinstall-windows-7-from-recovery-partition-on-a-dell-studio-1555-laptop
but I m not sure if it is gonna work. I can see the factory.wim file under the dir "d:\dell\image\" as described.
Also, I m thinking if I could manage to get recovery discs by another laptop of the same manufacturer (dell), same os (win7 64 bit), same model(inspiron n5110) and generally of the same laptop as mine and try to recover with those. Do you know if this gonna work?
Thanks,
Chris.
