Try installing the dll files directory on the harddirve first and then telling the comp where to look during install. If it's only a few this shouldn't be too hard.
I have the same problem Reason I 'm looking for a copy of a Dell boot disc for my lap top. plus the dell site does not give you programs that came with the computer like Media Direct spy ware and any others
Do you still have the old version of Windows XP, or did you format the drive? If you can still access your old OS boot of XP, then insert the XP disc and copy over the files, the problem is not caused from a lack of having the files on the disc, the install just won't recognize the directory, so if you can save the files on the hard drive you can manually point XP when it can't find them to the folder you created.
An alternative is to make disc which has the files on it, you can either copy them from the CD or there are a ton of sites which have dll's available for download.
If you're having a lot of missing files/corrupt files then you may want to try another disc.
I'm using the original XP CD that came with my computer. Earlier in the process, I deleted the partitions. I'm afraid to turn off the computer and try to reboot in the middle of the re-install. What now? Thanks for all your help.
