Replacing BIOS chip?
Hi-
I bought a motherboard on ebay, and the guy sent it to me minus a BIOS chip! It has an empty slot for a removeable chip right next to the DIMMs (where the CMOS is *soldered* onto the dead board I'm replacing). I called Dell tech support and was told that I couldn't get a replacement chip. Does anyone know of a vendor that sells these removable BIOS chips? For you Dell folks, the board is 88DRE in both cases - MY-088DRE is the board I'm replacing which has the chip, US088DRE on the one without. "AMP" is printed on the chip slot...
thanks

edit: That's not to say, if they're nice and honestly don't have it, that you should threaten them. My assumption was that this seller might be trying to scam you out of more cash by charging you to ship the bios chip, but it might have been an honest mistake or it could just be the way the seller obtained it. Try to negotiate a return/refund of the board if they can't send you the chip, and play nice ;-)
