SCREEN FLICKERS WHEN I PLUG A/C CORD

Can anyone help me with this issue. My screen flickers when im playing games with my A/C cord plugged in. Howerver when i remove the cord, it runs smoothly on the battery. Also my battery almost does not charge at all with my laptop running, but when i hibernate or shut down it charges faster. Would appreciate any help ASAP. Its a Dell Latitude E6400, windows 7

Diagnosis

The video "refresh rate" is switching between 60Hz (on AC power) and 50Hz (on battery power), and the screen momentarily goes blank.

Solution

While on AC power, Desktop>Right Click>Properties>Settings>Advanced>Monitor. Here, under Monitor settings, set the Screen Refresh Rate to 50 Hertz. After applying these settings, the blinking problem gets fixed.

I don't know which game you're playing but the Latitude product line is not a gaming computer.  The graphic cards are not high end.  I have a latitude but I don't play games.  I use it for work.

What I suspect is happening is that when playing on the battery that the frame rate drops to the point that it can play and the graphic card can keep up with it.  At full speed, the graphic card just cannot handle it.

Try turning down the game's graphics if you can.
