SD reader not working/inserted Sony Memory accidentally
Hi. I have an Inspiron 6000 with the Fujitsu MHT2040AH SD card reader. Stupidly, I inserted a sony memory card (well, maybe not stupidly but accidentally) and have been having problems ever since. I have deleted and re-installed the driver and the device manager says it is working properly. When I insert an SD card it does not auto play. I can access properties under my computer and tell it to auto play and then remove the SD and reinsert and then it works. However, when I try to move files from the card to a folder on my computer it tells me messages like "Cannot copy the path is too deep". Sometimes when I try to open the SD folder it says "The card is not formatted would you like to format it now?". I probably totally messed it up inserting the wrong kind of card, but they all look the same!! Does anyone have any ideas on how I can correct what I did??? Thanks so much.

if you are using xp then you could try updating your driver manually using this download that needs to be decompressed.

I've used it myself and it does work.

the Fujitsu MHT2040AH is your hdd.
suggest you download the link I've posted, unzip it then go into device manager and expand sd host controllers.
right click on sda standard compliant sd host controller and choose update driver pointing the wizard to where you extracted the decompressed downloaded file to.
the driver should update and you should now see the controller unded ide ata/atapi controllers.

you can roll back the driver to the original version in device manager but it looks like your port is knackered.
