Does the rep need to make a request as well because I need to ship it very soon or else im goign to be cgarged for the battery.  I'm like so confused about the whole process....

Make sure you go through the Dell rep. Otherwise, you may incur charges. Also, if it is not returned in a manner approved by Dell, then they might not accept deliver of the package - and by the time it is returned to you it'll be too late.

The best way is to ship it back according to DELL's instructions. If it's a part return on warranty work they will charge you for the replacement cost. Have you tried contacting the shipper yet?
