Sabrent USB 2.0 TV Box WinDVR for Inspiron 7500

I connected the TV Box and installed the WinDVR software to an Inspiron 7500 Windows XP.  I am having problems in viewing a picture and sound.  I went through the setup and had the software autoscan for the channels from the cable TV line.  That went OK. However, the video diplayed is composed of a number of columized broken color lines that give a clue that there is some picture signal.  There is no sound other than a clicking type sound -- sounds like eggs are being beaten for an omlet.

I would appreciate your assistance.

I suspect your 7500 only has usb 1.1 ports.

most of these usb tv tuners require usb2 to work properly.

I suspect that the description is a play on words as any usb2 device will work on a usb 1.1 port but only at usb 1.1 speed i.e. 12Mbps instead of 480Mbps.

if your laptop does indeed only have usb 1.1 ports then you'll need to get an usb2 pcmcia card to obtain usb2 functionality.

Thanks, Bacillus.
But based upon the information contained in Sabrent product description, the   TV Tuner is compliant with USB 2.0 and 1.1. Or is this possibly an untested claim by Sabrent?

Also, I went to the Sabrent web site and downloaded an "EPGPatch_v3 For Titan TV Intervideo." I thouight this might help to resolve some or all of these problems with the video and the sound. I tried to install this patch, however, it stops before being fully installed with an error message: "X Error: Cannot find WinDVR path (0x0004)"

I checked my computer's program files and see that the WinDVR application files are located in the folder at C:\Program Files\Intervideo\WinDVR3.

I did check the TV signal at the input by connecting a small TV set to it works on all the channels with fine video and audio quality. So the input to the TV Tuner is not an issue.

I have sent the above information to Sabrent's tech support as well.

Thanks, again...

I'll obtain one of those USB 2.0 adapter cards as you advise and see how it goes.
