Scratchy audio with Windows Media Player
Hi!
I recently upgraded my laptop to 2GB ram and Windows Vista Home Premium.
It is working fine. My only complain is that for every MP3 I listen in Windows Media Player, there is 5-second sratchy/crack audio before the end of the song.
Is it common? How can I fix that?
There was no problem with XP and 2GB ram, so the problem started after I upgraded to Vista.

Yes it is a known problem and there is a workaround solution in the FAQ -- the 1st thread on this board -- in FAQ #15.

Hi all,
I got the same problem, even worst. I just bought Dell Studio 15, Home Vista Premium, sometimes I can run Window Media, but really scratch and annoying sound. However, most of the time It cannot be run, the error was: "acquire Codec" and ask for Webhelp "error message C00D11B1". The same problem occured with Online Music. In addition, many times, when restarting, the sounds at all. Do you know why?
Thanks

Here is a thread on another site that has several solutions for the WMP error code and codec message.
The noise problems in Vista are discussed in this thread here on the Audio board.
There has been a new audio driver released on June 26 for the Studio 1535. If that is your model and you don't yet have that driver then you should install it. It is
R190606 v. 6.10.0.6017, A05, IDT 92HD73C1
If your computer is brand new then it should already have that driver. Keep in mind that Dell's return policy is good for 21 days.
