there is no problem with your battery or with your laptop... all you need to do is go to the BIOS by pressing F2 on the Dell screen and try to navigate it there... the reason why the screen goes dim when you are using batt power is to conserve batt power and so that you can use your system longer but if you want to change it then just go to the BIOS.. :-)
