Serial Numbers

Question

What does the serial number on my laptop tell me about the product? Specifically, is it a code that tells me information regarding the product? I currently have a Latitude and the serial number is  Does this tell me where and when the product was made along with the type of product that it is? Any help is appreciated.

That's not your serial numbers, its your Service Tag numbers and its mainly to use to identify your system for support, like if you view the website below its your system support sections, have a view, just copy the URL and paste it to your browser
