Setting up Hotsyncing through bluetooth with Tungsten T5 and Inspiron 8600

I am trying to setup the bluetooth connection between my Tungsten T5 PDA and Inspiron 8600 for hotsyncing. When I try to set it up I get an error message on my PDA that states unable to initiate hotsync operation b/c the port is in use by another application. To setup devices on my i click on the lower  hotsync icon on my windows desktop--under setup I have tried com 3 com 4 and com 5 and I get the same message. I have no problem hotsyncing with the cradle/cable. I talked to palm for 2 hrs and dell for 1 1/2 hrs. HELP!
