I have the same issue. I re-installed Win XP, after formatting the drive. Call tech support and see if someone can uninstall the bad audio driver. There are no audio drivers for the 9300 available on the support site. Dell is sending me a new hard drive with the drivers installed. They say this is because the 9300 is so new.

Curently, Dell does not (or forget to) put the audio driver link on the website.  Yet you can use the following connection, which will work on your Inspiron 9300.

Do not try to instal the driver tha tyou get from Inspiron 9200!  Yes, It will be frozed!  And no!  That is not going to work!

I found it in Dell US server: ftp://ftp.us.dell.com/audio/R90052.EXE

Thank you for the link. Dell sent me a drivers CD which did the trick. I really wish they would have given me one with the computer. I give you credit for finding that driver, though I haven't checked to see if it is the same version as the one Dell gave me.
