I downloaded and installed both drivers you suggested, the crashes still continue probably worse than before. The first one was a fuzzy screen with a rainbow of colors and everytime after that has been a dull gray screen.

Color Screen Crash 1564. I am having the same issue. Even flashed the bios, put Inspiron on tray of ice.

IT friend says it may be the video card as we wiped entire drive & restarted as though pc was brand new. Only happens w/ video games & video. Friend said that the video card is part of motherboard? & would be cheaper to get a new pc. Happened right when warranty expired.

Please help! this PC is just over a year old. Any answers would be helpful to this issue. this is my third Dell & now, w/o resolve, my last.

Bad news, had the same problem on Inspiron 1564, my computer is still under Dell warranty so I called the support center and after like a minute of conversation, the IT guy said they'll have to replace the motherboard (free of charge, because of the warranty).
It seemed like the guy on the phone knew all about this problem since he didn't ask too many questions...
So I think that there's something wrong with these models... If I were you I'd talk to the store were you got the computer... a normal Intel Motherboard shouldn't give up after less then a year, especially in a computer assembled by a well known company like Dell.

I am having the exact same problem with my Dell Inspiron 1564...Just when its warranty expired it started making buzzing sounds and colored screen upon playing even flash games or videos...temperature goes to 90 degrees... I switched from Win7 to Ubuntu and the problem persisted...Don't know where to go from here...
