St Micro Screen Detection Sensor
Windows Action Centre is Showing a problem with the ST Micro Screen Detection Sensor is not compatible with the version of Windows (Windows 7 Professional 64 bit) on my Dell Studio 1747 Laptop. I have tried to install the driver shown in the downloads Ver 1.06.08.20 but receive a message that a later version is already installed on the machine. (The driver on the Laptop is Ver 1.00.19 dated 22/7/2011)
I am unable to locate a Freefall driver on the Laptop as suggested as a possible fix for other Dell Models.
Can anyone help on this issue?
Thanks

A02 1.06.08.20 is the correct driver. I can only guess that there is a corrupted driver installed on your system. IF possible look in control panel, programs and features and see if you can find an ST Micro listed and uninstall it. If not look into device manager and see if you can't remove it from there. Then try to install A02 1.06.08.20 again and see if there are any further problems.

Terry B thank you for your advice. Found the ST Micro in Device manager and uninstalled it , but Windows found it again on restart. Then repeated action but on this occassion elected to remove the sofware. After a further restart attemmpted to install AO2 1.06.08.20 this would not install as it found Version 2.00.010 on the laptop (this later version was not shown in the Device driver or amongst the Programs.
Once again thank you for your help.

Thanks for the update.
With 2.00.010 installed does the hard drive motion sensor seem to be installed correctly, shows up in device manager with no errors?

I am having a similar problem on my M6600 with Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. I installed the latest driver on Dell's driver website (A10_309372). After a minute or two from bootup, Windows gives a message that ST Microelectronics ins't compatible with this version of Windows. Do you have any suggestions?

Thank you once again. I have checked the device manager and the ST Motion Sensor shows up as being installed correctly with no errors. How ever the Driver Version is shown as 1.0.0.19. Dated 22/07/2011.
I have done a Windows System restore on my Laptop over the last couple of days following the problem I had trying to install the ST fgile from the Dell website. A02 Ver 1.06.08.20.

Did you have the free fall sensor installed on your system before trying the update? Did you remove the original FFS before trying to update?
John
With the info I have A02 1.06.08.20 is the correct driver. If the older driver is installed correctly with no errors I am not sure that I would mess with it further. As the only other thing that I can think is reimaging the drive.
