Studio 1537 - Power button doesn't work

I have a 1537 that I can't turn on with the power button. I am told the laptop was dropped - but do not know the extent of the fall. The only obvious damage on the case is a small broken off piece in one of the corners.

First a little bit of background. I can turn on the laptop sometimes by running my hand over the media buttons on top, and it works fine when this happens so I know it isn't a standard no boot issue. I disassembled the display and visually inspected the power switch breakout board and couldn't see anything wrong with it. All connections are properly seated.

My question is, does anyone have any ideas on how else to hardware troubleshoot this issue?

Thanks

John

I just put a reply in this topic:

http://en.community.dell.com/forums/t/19316868.aspx

on how to use your wifi button as power button.

...In case your problem is still existing.

Thanks! I actually purchased a new power button/wifi button assembly and replaced the whole thing.

Works perfectly now!

May I ask what is the part number for the assembly and where you bought it from?

Thanks.
