Studio 1737 soft-keys not working

Wondering if anyone has ideas why my touch-sensitive keys above my keyboard would suddenly stop working. They don't light up anymore at start-up or when coming out of sleep mode. This is extremely frustrating to not be able to adjust the volume easily!
