Symptom Tree Errors and What They Mean?
Hello,
New to the Forum here so thanx in advance for any help from anyone lol. I think I may have brought down a Trojan in a Torrent, and its a mean sumbytch, its a BHO, but it seems to hide from Hijackthis and the like, wierd. Either that caused the failure, or when my wife turned off the PC while it was is either in POST or initial Startup, one or the other, cause it will not Boot the OS since. I have run the Diagnostic Partition (Seperate Q-Do I have to run the Long test on all 312Million Blocks???!!!) and am registering alot of Block Errors. Can this be fixed, or is my System Trashed? and yes if your wondering, I know how to Diagnose, but am not educated enough to understand completely the results, that was the help I was lookin for here, so thanx again if anyone can.

What exactly, is the problem you're seeing? Failure to powerup, failure to load Windows?

OK, when I try to start it Normally, It goes thru the POST, then when the Microsoft Corp Logo and the Little Progress bar that goes back and forth while the OS is loading comes on the screen, it just stays on the screen forever. So I kill the power, restart, and have tried several options with the same result. If I hit F8, It will not start in Safe Mode, It loads all the .sys files, then freezes at the "Please Wait" at the Bottom, If I try to start in Safe Mode with Command Prompt, it goes thru POST, The Corp Logo Progress shows briefly, then I get a Blue screen error, Saying Windows was shut down to avoid damage to your system. If I hit F12 and try to Override and reload the OS, thus purging the Drive, I get black screen after the "Choose Language" screen appears, so I cant even dump and re-install the OS. I have also tried the "Repair your Computer" Option, Just goes to same Logo Progress bar screen and remains on the screen forever. I have also restarted and hit F12 and tried to boot from the Vista Disk. It goes to the "Hit any key to Boot......" screen then loads the files from the disk.. after a long pause, I get a black screen with just mouse control. I did run the Symptom tree when I got into the diagnostic portion last nite, it loaded then. I ran the Symptom tree, and It did not pass the SMART Long Test, the SMART Test, and two others if I remember correctly. Blah, am I screwed or What? lol
