System memory failure

I had an older computer that recently crashed and quit working. It would go to the blue screen that tells you what the problem is but would then flash off before I could read it. I recovered most of my files from it through Safe Mode and was able to actually get a new computer through a warranty set up at my school.

I got the new computer and was loading my old files onto the new computer and it crashed with the blue screen. I restarted the computer and got the blue screen again before it could successfully reboot. After that, all the computer would do was load the Dell screen and go blank. The computer will not run in safe mode either. I was only loading music files, so I am not sure if it could be virus related or not. I ran diagnostics and an extended scan of the computer via the partition. I got the following error messages:

Error Code 2F00:0119
Msg: System memory failure. Read 00000100h, expected 00000000h at address *blank(there were many)*. Suspected memory component located on system board, at label DIMM_A.

I also got Error Code 2F00:0419 with effectively the same message.

The computer is a Dell Latitude D610 with Windows XP.

My questions are:
A) Could this have been caused by a virus or corrupted file?
B) Does this mean that some of the hardware is damaged and may need replacing?
C) Could I fix this by reformatting my C-drive? I had heard Dell's have a built in feature where they can restore the system to factory condition through a partition.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Cory

Try reseating the memory.  I had the same problem and Dell had me do this and I haven't had the problem again.
