Tech Support Indicates Max External Monitor Resolution on D620 is 1024 x 768?!?!

I'm in shock right now, tech support is telling me that it is not possible to set the external monitor resolution to higher than 1024 x 768 on a Latitude D620. This can't be right, can it?

Has anyone been able to set external resolution to 1280 x 1024? It's not an option and I've updated all my drivers with no luck.

Thanks,
Dan

Are you getting this information directly from Dell?  This really doesn't make sense. The external resolution should be capable of at least matching the internal resolution. Even my old D600 that I'm using now can be set to as high as 1920x1200 and 2048x1536.  I have it running into a 22" monitor at 1280x1024. It also doesn't make sense that a widescreen laptop would have the external resolution limited to a 4:3 format.

This came from the tech support representative that I "spoke" to for about 2 or 3 hours yesterday. I repeatedly said that it sounded absurd that the max external resolution was 1024 x 768 but she said that if that's what showed up, then that was the max.

Now, I'm not entirely convinced she knew what she was talking about or anything...but that's a whole other issue.

On my D620, I am running 1600x1200 on a 19" FP, and 1440x900 on the laptop screen.. This is with the 110m, so it looks like either a driver problem for your card, or a driver problem with the monitor you have plugged in.

The maximum possible resolution is 1900 x 1200  ( WUXGA ) .
 1280 x 1024 probably isn't an option because that's standard format. The nearest Widescreen res. is 1200 x 800.

I have my external monitor at 1280x1024, thru my D/Port APR. I had a problem with it coming up at 1024x768, but can't recall what I did to fix it. I think I updated the nVidia display driver.
