Technical differences between Inspiron 17 models

Hello,

On http://www.dell.com/us/p/inspiron-17-3721/pd, I see that there are 3 Inspiron 17 models. The hardwares of the two first ones differ by:

  • Processor: Intel® Pentium® processor 2127U (2M Cache, 1.9GHz) vs 3rd Generation Intel® Core™ i3-3227U processor (3M Cache, 1.9 GHz)
  • Graphic card: Intel® HD Graphics vs Intel HD Graphics 4000

Practically speaking, what would be the differences in performance between these two models ? I suppose both are unable to run 3D-intensive games, but would one be e.g. significantly better at playing HD videos ?

Thank you!

The "3" models are basic, entry-level models for basic, word processing and Internet browsing.

The "5" series models are mid-range - suitable for the multimedia apps you're looking for.

The "7" series models are capable of low-end gaming in addition to multimedia.

Yes, there are differences -- the lower-end models use older and/or lower-end CPUs with lower-end integrated video.  Note that ALL of them have permanently-mounted CPUs that cannot be upgraded - so what you buy is what you get, forever - you cannot upgrade later.
