Tray for laptop on bed
Is there a tray or laptop cooler designed for use on a bed or lap? My daughter often does here work while lying in bed and the laptop gets fairly warm.
The coolers I've looked at seem to be designed for use on a desk and I'm afraid the fan(s) might not "breathe" with a blanket under it.
Thanks,
Mike

There are a few folding trays available. Targus makes one, or should I say sells one, and so do many other makers. They all look pretty much the same.
The worst thing you can do is use a notebook on a soft surface, it retains the heat and can lead to problems down the road. So I suggest you instruct your daughter to stop using it on the bed without something hard under it. You can also use a piece of plywood or a hard piece of cardboard or anything you can think of that will give it a hard surface to set on. I have even added large rubber bumpers to the back feet of both my notebooks to get more air flow underneath them. They still get warm around the memory area but not as warm as they use to.

For the nice looking (i.e. Wood, cherry), I just bought something for my wife that has two surfaces with enough room for the laptop and a mouse, a pen/pencil holder, adjustable, plus a second smaller surface for drinks/ice cream, whatever. $99, free shipping. See the following:

For cheap, call: 800-409-9988 (as seen on TV)
called "Tablemate". can't be sure, but think it was about $30 a tray. It's white, only slightly adjustable (tilt at a set angle or flat).
Both of them have this quality: fits under furniture/bed, but only if there's at least 1 and a half inches clearance. This doesn't work for my living room furniture, since my wife likes to sit in her armchair, which has a leg rest, nor my sleeper bed sofa which as the bed, underneath going all the way to the floor. But the Laptop Mate (first one with wood), will fit under the bed when it slides out, which we will be doing for someone who's going to have surgery and layed up for a week. We've only had it a few days, but we like it.
There's also something out there which is more than twice the price, but wins on the adjustability measure. I forget what it's called; it's austere, metal and glass? I've got the link somewhere, if you want it, reply back.
