USB 2.0 / Firewire PCI Card not recognized
System: Latitude C840, BIOS Rev A02, Windows XP Pro SP1, C-Dock II Expansion Station
I have installed an Adaptec AUA-3020 (which is an USB 2 - FireWire Combo PCI card) in the top PCI slot of the docking station.
After boot-up system does not recognize the new hardware, driver or software for USB card cannot be installed:
- No error messages.
- New card cannot be found in hardware device manager.
Questions:
- Do I need special software for docking station? I assume XP should provide all necessary drivers.
- Did I forget to change a partcular setting in the BIOS? If yes, which?
- Do I need to upgrade the BIOS from A02 to A?? BIOS seems to work fine so far, I am a bit reluctant to upgrade.
- Is there a hardware error (either the card or the docking station)? How do I detect this?
- Is there a known incompatibility between USB 2 PCI card and docking station? If yes, any workaround?
Any idea would be highly appreciated.
Regards, Wern
