Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller?

I just did a clean install of WinXP Pro on my XPS and got all the drivers back in with the Dell discs...but when I look under the device manager, the only thing left to install is the Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller. Where do install that driver from? There's nothign on the discs and if I do a reinstall, so many are listed for INTEL in the listings to choose from.

Have you installed the Chipset drivers?

yeah, but ill try that again.

A bunch of USB Controllers show up in the list of ones available to install if I got that route...but I have no idea which one to install.

I'll try the latest driver on Dell's Download section for the XPS

is it showing up as an "Unknown Device" or is it not showing up ...  if it's not showing up you have a hardware issue

if it says "unknown device" install notebook system software (assuming they have this for XPS) along with chipset and SP1/2 ...  once done, go back to device manager, right-click the Unknown Device, click remove, then right click somewhere and hit 'scan for changes" ...  it should be redetected correctly
