Upgrade CPU on Inspiron B130
Hello all!
I am currently looking into upgrading my processor on my B130. What I have is an Intel Celeron M 370 1.5GHz 400FSB. I was curious to know what else would work in it. I've read that I could get a Pentium M 765 @ 2.20GHz and that would be the max. I am curious to know if any of the 400FSB Pentium 4M processors would work or not either. My chipset information is as follows:
| Chipset |
|
| Detected Chipset: |
Mobile Intel(R) 82915GM/GMS/910GML Express Chipset family |
| Chipset Components |
|
| Memory Controller: |
Mobile 82915GM/GMS/82910GML |
| I/O Controller: |
Failed to identify your ICH |
| Integrated Graphics: |
Mobile Intel(R) 82915GM/GMS, 910GML Express Chipset Family |
Thanks all!

The moble Pentium 4 (or 4m) CPUs will not work in this system.

No, the system uses a Pentium M or Celeron M CPU - the older P4 is a totally different microarchitecture which requires a completely different chipset.

Oh ok. I wasn't sure becuase a lot of the specs looked the same. Do you know if its because of the hyperthreading?
Thanks!
