Hi MickeyFinn,

Thanks for writing to us.

E6410 can take

I7-640M,

I7-620M

Processors and maximum memory of 8GB.

Though there are few customer who have tried upgrading to parts which are not tested by Dell, for few it worked and for few it was little to to no luck.

Also a processor would cost you as much as a new computer as its a high commodity part. So please give is a second though before going ahead.

Please provide us the system tag# and the name its registered under, contact number and email address.

Regards

Best upgrade for the money:  replace the hard drive with a solid state drive.  If you're running low on memory, that may help as well - to 8G assuming you have a 64-bit OS.

You won't see anywhere near the improvement of the SSD with any CPU upgrade this system can take - it's just not worth the effort -- never mind the cost -- to upgrade the CPU.

My upgraded E6410 has the i7-620M + Crucial 8gb ram + 128gb ssd+ 500gb hdd in cd drive.

Runs Windows 10 quick and smooth. Best it's ever been. 6 year old laptop.
