Upgrading old Inspiron 15r N5010 processor

Hi there

I have a Dell Inspiron 15r with this processor - Intel(R) Pentium(R) CPU P6100 @ 2.00GHz and 4GB of RAM.

I intend to upgrade the RAM and replace the processor if possible. Is there a maximum amount of RAM that this can be upgraded to? And is there a list anywhere of compatible processors?

I have checked about online and know that if its an i-processor then it has to be a first gen one. Does it have to be a particular one or will any of the i3-i7 do?

Thanks

The system will take up to 8 G of RAM as 2X4G soDIMMs.

The system use a first-generation Core CPU and did ship with up to i7 CPUs -- keep to the 45W or lower TDP CPUs (not the 55W units) and the first-generation Core CPUs and the upgrade should work.

Yes.  Note that you must have a 64 bit operating system or you'll see only 4G of RAM, though.
