Using dell bluetooth dongle from the keyboard/mouse set with non dell computer?

I got a Dell bluetooth desktop a while back but my Latitude had built in bluetooth so I didnt need the little bluetooth dongle that came with it.

My girlfriend has a Compaq presario r3000 that didnt come with bluetooth and I was thinking about trying to use the dongle with her computer.  She has Windows XP Home with SP2 but it doesnt properly recognize the dongle.

It gets it right at first but installs it as some sort of generic USB HID device.  I tried to check on enabling bluetooth services on her computer but all of the microsoft support said it just should be there on an service pack 2 machine.  There isnt a reference at all to bluetooth on her machine.

Is there some sort of driver or bluetooth stack I should be able to get to make this dongle work on a computer that didnt come with bluetooth in the first place?

FYI IT WORKED.

You can use the dongle that comes with the Dell Bluetooth Desktop with other computers to do other things.

We downloaded the bluetooth stack provided by Compaq for a different computer that comes with bluetooth and now she can sync her phone VIA bluetooth with activesync using that bluetooth dongle.
