VGA to HDMI cable connection on my HDTV

I'm trying to find out if I can connect my Inspiron 6000 laptop to my new HDTV.

My Inspiron only has a VGA connection and my HDTV only has HDMI connections.

I found a cable that has the VGA connector on one end and the HDMI connector on the other end, but it states "Your video output device must support both analog and digital signal conversion and output function."

Does my laptop's video card support both?

Hi Big Dawg1 ,

This model does not support HDMI connectivity. You can watch video on your TV only through VGA and Svideo output if your TV supports the same.

There are ZERO digital outputs.  HDMI is Digital only.  Your laptop has Analog S-Video and VGA

You need a TV that has VGA input and a VGA male to Male cable.

The converters don't exactly work well if at all.

Thanks for the info.

No, my Samsung only has HDMI, Component and USb connectors. No VGA or Svideo.
