Video memory corruption

I got this E1705 system back in November. In the past month or so, I've been encountering some video rendering issues, with both OpenGL and Direct3d. When the GPU temperature (7900GS) gets to about 67-70C (varies), both result in the BSOD with NMI memory parity error/System has halted etc. All the system memory is intact, and all diagnostics passed, but this is the one issue I encountered with the GPU: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v619/harrison_333/42c42ae4.jpg I did notice that this correlates to this report (http://www.dellcommunity.com/supportforums/board/message?board.id=si_virus&message.id=25709), only a few variations in the error report, but the same error code nonetheless.

I have already tried installing original drivers, to obtain the same result, but since the problem occurred before it booted int the OS, I would at least like to think that it isn't a software/driver issue.

I can't be sure why this issue is occurring, but any help would be appreciated.

I, too, have been dealing with this issue the last month or two and have the same model Inspiron E1705 laptop with the Nvidia GeForce Go 7900 GS video card. It's not as severe as what you're experiencing, but the behavior in which the BSOD occurs is. It does not happen during normal laptop usage (i.e. surfing Internet, e-mail, Word, etc.). The temp of the video card never gets hot enough to generate the error condition. I play World of Warcraft and it will BSOD if the GPU temp gets above 70c. It used to play fine with no problem, but for whatever reason, it's now unstable. I've tried original and updated drivers as well, to no avail. The GPU fan is running on high, but does not prevent the card from overheating, which I think is what's happening. There are times I can play the game for a whole day with no problem and other times, I cannot play for more than 10-15 min. before it crashes with the NMI memory parity error/system halted BSOD screen. After rebooting, there are artifacts that appear on the Dell boot screen and on the Windows boot screen as well, but they all disappear once Windows loads. I ran the Dell diagnostics tests on the laptop and no errors found. I already checked to make sure the fan vents are not blocked and no dust buildup either, so not sure what else to try. I don't know if it happens in other GPU-intensive applications, but I'll try that and post my results.
