Vostro 3550 : how to disable beep error code ?
Hello
When turned on my laptop I get 5 beeps, pause, 5 beeps...
The problem seems to be related to cmos so I replaced the CMOS battery (CR2032). But the laptop continues to beep. There is no trouble at all except these ennoying beeps ! and as my computer is no more under warranty, I can't contact support.
I tried to disable beep under windows (through Device Manager) but beeps are still present :(
Is there a way (except disconnect the internal speaker) to stop these beeps ?
thanks
regards

Unplug the system, remove the battery and hold the power button for 30 seconds. If that doesn't clear the beep code, it's the realtime clock that has failed -- to eliminate the beeps, the mainboard needs to be replaced.

thanks for your answer.
I already changed the CMOS battery and I have no trouble at all on this computer except these beeps. I will not change the motherboard as the computer is no more guarantee (and there is no trouble at all)
this is a bit stupid to have no way to cut these beeps :(
I will have to unplug the sound speakers

Hi,
Thank you for writing to the Dell Community Forum.
Please try releasing the flea power by disconnecting the battery & adapter and press & hold the power button for 30-40 seconds. Reconnect the battery and adapter to see of the beeps stop. If not, it is an issue with the motherboard.
Please add me as friend and PM the service tag of the computer. We could get the motherboard replaced based on the system warranty.

Hi
thanks for a lot for your help
I already try the press&hold button trick several times but I always have the beeps. I sent you the service tag of my laptop in the friend request.

But did you remove the new battery first and then press and hold the power button? Just replacing the battery did not clear the system memory. Since you are out of warranty it is worth a try.

The real-time clock chip has failed -- to solve the problem, the mainboard needs to be replaced.

no luck for me.
but what I don"t understand is why I have no trouble at all with the laptop (except beeps) Date/time are not lost if I remove the main battery or if I unplug the laptop.
