The only way I have found is by reinstalling the touchpad drivers and the fingerprint reader drivers (not software) and rebooting. Whilst my reader was not detected, going through process gets it working again, it went twice but now has been detected for a 1.5 weeks fine. Download all windows updates, then try reinstalling the drivers for the touchpad and finger print reader from the dell support site. Now the reader is detected but its not recognising the fingerprints....

I have the same issues too. Royal pain the in <ADMIN NOTE: Substitute character removed as per TOU>
Have you found a fix yet? I haven't. Event tried the generic validity drivers/software and no luck.
