Webcam problem in Dell INSPIRON 1564

Dear everyone,

I have recently gotten a 1564 dell laptop, the problem I have is with the integrated Webcam, at the beginning its Webcam was working properly, but after a few months it is giving the message (Please plug in a supported device) the software Windows 7 64bit was installed by the manufacturer and there is nothing wrong with it, I have reinstalled the Webcam driver, but still it is saying (please plug in a supported device) and doesn't show any pictures, I also checked it from deivce manager I found nothing wrong with it, no yellow thing ...etc, and it says this driver is working properly.

Please someone help.

I have posted this link a few times here in the forums, but it is a good basic tool for webcams.  There is native support for many webcams in Windows 7.  So one thing to consider is clean out what ever webcam driver that is installed and allow Windows to detect and install the webcam.

http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/kcs/document?c=us&cs=19&docid=266612&l=en&s=dhs

Notice:
Close any applications that are currently using the webcam. Save and close any applications that you are currently working on as the system will need to restart.
  1. Click Start
  2. Right-Click Computer
  3. Click Properties
  4. Click Device Manager on the left hand side
  5. Click Imaging devices
  6. Right-click the Integrated webcam
  7. Click Uninstall
  8. Follow the prompts to continue to uninstall the Driver.
  9. Once uninstalled restart the computer

Certainly if you have not tried so, download Dell Webcam Central.

Other than that, the webcam may not be connected correctly or defective.
