What Is Truelife?

Last Night, I ordered A Dell Inspiron E1705 And I was Wondering What Truelife Was.

The screen has a shiney surface instead of a matt. I have it on my E1505 and like it a lot better than the other lappy we have.

Truelife is nice, except it's shiny, so you'll be seeing glare on your screen again.

Any kind of light that hits it will reflect a lot more than not having it.

In addition the the "shiny vs. matte" screen surface, just like its predecessor UltraSharp, it typically means increased contrast ration, increased brightness, and increase viewing angle. In addition, with the E1705, there is no non-TrueLife WUXGA display so it also means higher screen resolution. (It used to be that for some models, you could get UltraSharp and non-UltraSharp variants of a display at the same resolution, such as my old I8200's UltraSharp UXGA display. The non-UltraSharp variants had the same resolution but much worse viewing angle and contrast.)

The shiny screen is more annoying for some, but the increased resolution, contrast, and viewing angle are worth every penny from all reports I've heard regarding the WSXGA+ (1440x900 instead of 1920x1200 resolution) display.
