Why do all my taskbar program items turn into generic white folder icons and back again after win 7 loads?
Hi,
I have an inspiron 17R with windows 7 professional installed as standard. Recently after windows boots, it looks like it's finished loading, but then if you try to do anything it's unresponsive, and then all the program icons along the taskbar at the bottom turn into the generic "i don't have an icon for this file" generic white folder icons.. and then back to the proper ones. Then finally the computer can be used! Any ideas why there's this sudden slowdown?
thanks

Hi,
Please follow the steps below which may fix the issue:
1. Run the Windows troubleshooter:
a) Click Start.
b) Click Control Panel.
c) In the search box type Troubleshooter.
d) Click Troubleshooting.
2. It’s possible that the system is infected with a virus or spyware. Check your PC using antispyware and antivirus programs.
3. Restart your system in Safe Mode. Start tapping the F8 key on your keyboard once the system restarts. Use the arrow keys to choose Safe Mode in Windows Advanced Options menu and then press Enter. Check if the issue occurs in Safe Mode
4. If the issue doesn’t occur in Safe Mode, update the video driver. Follow the steps below:
a) Click Start button.
b) In the search box type devmgmt.msc and then press enter.
c) Select the video card device and right click it.
d) Select properties.
e) In the properties window, under Driver tab, click Update Driver button.
f) After the installing the updates, restart the computer.
Please reply with the findings.
Thanks and Regards
