WiFi not working
Afetr recently re installing Vista on inspiron 1525 my WiFi no longer works. I have tried to install numerous drivers but the problem is I can not identify the manufacturer.
Help!!!!!!!!! Please

try punching in your service tag number on support on www.dell.co.in. try downloading the wifi driver (should be the most updated) and install. the site will give u the name of ur wifi manufacturer

Did you install the desktop/notebook utility and the chipset drivers first? If not, the rest of the drivers will fail to install. How to Download and Install Drivers in the Correct Order

Check the switch on the right front edge of the Laptop.

This seems to be the most logical answer. So ok I didn't what do I do now that they have been installed in the wrong order. I don't suppose there is a quick repair.

Graham,
Just start with the desktop/notebook utility and the chipset drivers, then slowly work your way down the ists.
Processor Driver (if applicable)
Video
Audio (sound)
Input Drivers (keyboard/mouse)
Modem
Network Card
QuickSet(Laptop only)
Everything should start working, just needs installed again in the correct order.

Thank you my friend.............perfect.
Do you have on answer for this one.
This old battery was very tired so I have replaced it. Towards the end of the old battery's life I kept getting a message over the battery icon that said pugged in, not charging and after pulling out the power lead at the laptop and plugging it back in numerous times it would eventually say plugged in, charging. This is still happening!

Graham,
Press the F3 button, or the one with the battery icon. Look at the tabs annd you may find the box checked not to charge the battery or similar message.

Albeit there is a battery icon on the F3 when pushed it just brings up a search box for the desktop.

Sorry for the delay, I almost lost your email from this thread.
Did you install the Dell Recommended Vista Power Management Settings and Dell QuickSet? If memory serves me correctly, Dell QuickSet controls the F Keys, like F1, F2, F3, Etc...
