Win 8-Failure configuring Windows updates. Reverting changes
Dell laptop running Win 8 wont install the Windows Updates once downloaded, just get a message saying 'Failure configuring Windows updates. Reverting changes'. This is Driving me crazy. Laptop needed for college to connect with Wi-Fi, college IT run a Bradford Scan to test pc prior to allowing connection. Tried MS Fixers but no joy, not issue with AV etc. Tried upgrading to Window 8.1 in the hope it would overcome the issue but found it wont allow the 8.1 upgrade, said it needed laptop to have all current Critical and Security Updates installed under Win 8 before upgrade to 8.1.
Do I have to go down the nuclear option and get a Hard Drive, all answers appreciated.

Solution found for Win 8 updating issue, I moved from Win 8 to Win 8.1 it worked on the 2nd attempt, cant remenber the sequence but hid the failed files so that it didnt look to download and install them. Once I got Win 8.1 running I was then able to run the Bradford Scan required by my college and it passed the test and now I can access the college WiFi. I also ran Dells soft boot diagonastic test clicking F12 key repeately on boot up, the full test showed up no problems and gave a clean bill of health.

I have an entire office full of them. It seems to be just those that upgraded to Windows 7. If I go the nuclear option, they won't be going back to Windows 8. That was a mistake in the first place.
