Hi Sean,

Same problems here -- There is an issue with the CCC 10.1 versions -- if you explore the ATI website you will find it.  I have a Studio 9000 and it came with Win 7 preinstalled and I cannot get CCC to work either.   I have three monitors that I manage.  What I have been doing, and it is a terrible work around, is everytime the system reboots, I reinstall the latest version of CCC; and don't reboot.  It generally will work until the next reboot of the computer.

Sorry this doesn't help, but the drivers are just not working in Win 7.

Now, if I can only fix my backbutton issue in IE8.

Hi Gene,

Thanks for the reply.   Was just about to try your suggestion of installing each time needed but then I realised I was still not able to actually select CCC during the install process which was weird I thought.

After searching around a bit more on the problem,  I fond the below link referencing to a tool called ATI Mobility Monitor.   I used this as per on the page to modify the ATI install file,   then installed CCC,  and it worked !!  After 3 re-boots now pleased to say that CCC is installed now on 10.2 and running like a dream.

Thought I would post the link in case it was helpful for yourself or anyone else,   as it has fixed my issues on ATI CCC and Windows 7... Wohoo...

Yes,  still with you on the backbutton on IE8 !!

Cheers,  Sean

Hello

Thanks for this info .... I've been having a bit of a disaster trying to install an ATI 5770 in a Dell T7400 that I recently got. The Nvidia FX570 that came with it works fine. But for whatever reasons, when installing the ATI drivers (9.12, 10.1, 10.2 ... even tried with some version 8.9xxx), the machine crashes .... blue screen and then some error message saying it's probably a bad driver). I've tried seemingly every combination and trick to install it ..... but it crashes immediately the Catalyst Install Manager starts its routines (annoyingly you don't seem to be able to install ATI drivers without it using the Catalyst Install Manager .... even if you only download the driver)

When I tried to install manually, via the Device Manager, it would find the driver file, but then tell me it "couldn't communicate with the card" (or words to that effect)

I suspect this is related to the T7400 motherboard, because I've recently had the card working in an older Dell 490 (though I had to remove Catalyst because it wouln't work properly with 2 monitors), ....... though every few days, the monitors would flicker quite violently for a few seconds, then settle down again. I thought this might be to do with the card going in to low power/energy saving mode when not used too much for a while. Though I'm not too sure about that

I've checked out the ATI Mobility Manager, ...... though I see someone has used this on a Desktop

Is this still working OK ..... I'm very reluctant to install some 3rd party work around in case there are issues in the future when upgrading various things. Though it does seem it amends the ATI files rather than any Windows 7/Dell files

Hope things are still running OK

Regards

Danny

Hi Danny, Sorry on delayed reply.

Yes all working perfectly now,   as I actually swap between at least 3 different screens per week depending on where I am working and it has worked a treat and solved my issues.

Had to use the ATI Mobility Manager to get it all to work,  but from using this I have had no issues using the tools.

Hope it helps from your end also.

Sean

Thanks for the feedback ...... glad to see someone has got this card+drivers working

I'm afraid it still isn't at my end. I tried the ATI Mobility Manager, and am pretty certain I followed the procedures correctly. It did then allow me to run the Catalyst Install Manager, ..... but then nothing happened. It went through the motions of installing ....... but nothing actually got installed it would seem.

I've now had to revert to the Nvidia card (which fortunately is quite usable, ... especially for a 256 Mb card) as I need to get on with things. I'm still suspicious that it has something to do with the Dell T7400 motherboard. For some reason, Windows 7 is only recognising the card as a "standard VGA display adaptor". When I try to install via the Device Manager, I can find the driver, but then Windows again comes up with some kind of "can't communicate with this card" message.

Trawling the internet, there seems to be a lot of people having issues with this card and ATI drivers. I had it working on a Dell 470, but ever there, the drivers were pretty unstable, and the performance was not much of an improvement on a much lower spec'd Nividia GeForce 8800 (a card which is probably about 2 and a half years old now)

Well, I'll see what happens and hopefully find a solution. Though I'll have to leave it for the time being as I've got work to be doing and such

I'll post something up if I get a result

Cheers

Danny

Hello again

ATI drivers 10.3 have just come out ...
Something a little odd, which may be part of the problem, .... when I right-click on the 10.2 and 10.3 driver installation icon, and choose "Troubleshoot compatibility", and then choose "Try recommended Settings", it then says this needs to be run with "Windows Compatibility Mode: Windows XP (SP2)". isn't this a bit odd as it supposed to be compatible with Windows 7.

I'll do a bit more reading up before I try it. But the problems do seem related the some Windows security settings, and it thinks the drivers might cause problems (though I am logged in as administrator and have full rights, ect, ......)
