Windows 8 and Ati Mobylity Radeon X1300 on Inspiron 6400

Request you to follow the below steps to fix the driver issue:

(1) Go to search box and type Device manager.

(2) One the Device manager screen, locate video driver.

(3) Right click on video driver and click update.

(4) This will check if the windows have any recommended drivers and will automatically download if available.

(5) Restart the laptop and check if it works

(6)  If not, I request you to go to the AMD website and manually download ATI drivers for windows 7/ vista  by using  the below link to update drivers (windows vista/ windows 7 drivers might be compatible with windows8) :

Click on Support and drivers option Select Component category as Notebook Graphics, product line as Radeon HD series, product model as ‘All other mobility Radeon products’, operating system as windows 7(32-bit or 64-bit as appropriate) then click view results. The drivers will appears, download the drivers.

(7) Restart the laptop and check if it works

If it doesn’t work, I am afraid we will have to wait till the official release of Windows 8 and check back on the site to see if AMD/ATI will release compatible drivers.

Hmmm, same problem. Tried what was suggested below to no avail. Please let me know if you find a driver.

I downloaded the X1300 Driver from Dell's support site but received this message:

Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it.

ATI Mobility Radeon X1300

The driver selected for this device does not support this version of Windows

Is that correct?

It  ran an for a while and installed many Net 4.0 files but I don't think it installed a driver.

The Device Manage still reported

Microsoft Basic Display Adapter under Display adapters. It launched a

control program that changes the intensity of the screen, etc.. I could not

locate any *.inf files in the directories it created thinking I would

install the driver through Device Manager.

Do you have any suggests? Perhaps you can give me the step by step.

I was referring to the content posted by me earlier. The download link for Net 4.0 is correct. As I told to you earlier, if the steps posted by me in the same forum doesn’t work then the windows 8 driver support for Inspiron 6400 is not provided from Dell so request you to visit the manufacturer website and download the driver.

Hi i had same problem after searching net for supporting driver finaly i downloaded and installed ATI Portable Graphics Driver for Windows Vista 32-bit File Name: R153383.EXE

its working fine as of now on windows 8 32 bit and screen resolution supported max is 1280x800.

I modified the driver of an installer with the characteristics of X1300-1500.

First, though, you have to uninstall all existing display drivers.

Is there anyway you can repost a working link to that modified driver?  A lot of people are having problems with an updated modified version of the x1300 windows 8 driver, it would be appreciated if you can setup a new download link.
