Try clicking on start, then in the search type:msconfig and hit enter.you will see the next menu pop up click the start up tab at top, scroll down list and only keep the neccessary items for start up.Simply click on the box to remove the check mark, the items you want at start up are the only items with a check in the box. When finished hit ok and you will have to restart, this should take care of problem if not, after you have done this run a complete system virus, adware, malware scan.At this point if they have all failed to fix this then you might have a faulty HDD,or system board.
I have the same problem (error message), but it doesn't start up enough to even see the start button, to change anything. Can you tell me how to start it up enough to to even see the start button. The window XP logo comes up starts to load then it goes black. Thanks for any help.
Thanks for your quick response. I use my laptop for work, so I really need it fixed.
It doesn't seem dead because I can run the diagnostic tests. I haven't put in a DVD because I didn't want
to have to reinstall windows unless I had to. I am on a diagnostic screen that is mmo61, and boot sequence is highlighted, with HDD being second, I read to make it first, but the cursor isn't active so I can't select
HDD on the right side of the screen to move it up to be the first to boot.
It is possible to have a BAD HARD DRIVE that boots the diagnostic partition but is not repairable to be bootable and useable due to Physical damage that no software is going to fix. Drives in this condition WILL NOT WORK by being reformatted and reinstalled. Format does not fix physical damage.

"Error Code : 0F00:136C. Msg:IDE device failed: Blank media is present in optical drive"
So your hard drive is dead and it cannot read the DVD Drive.
