Code 39 can be found in Windows (XP) Knowledge Base. Hopes this helps. Have you tried re-installing XP?    Jim

I have the same problem... it all started after I downloaded the latest SigmaTel Audio drivers from the DELL website. The setup program got stuck midway. After uninstalling a couple of Microsoft drivers like "Microsoft Kernel DLS Synthesizer" and "Microsoft Wave Audio Mixer" at least the internal speakers work, but not the external ones (they are properly plugged in and turned on). What's up with that? Anybody got an idea, maybe DELL?

Continued: This is now a major problem.. I can't uninstall or disable the SigmaTel drivers. If I try, the system stops responding completely. Only way out is the Power off button.. This is a real nasty one.

I have tried to install and uninstall all available audio drivers (Sigmatel c-major) from Dell site and none of them worked. XP would not load the drivers anyway! This is ridiculous and really annoying.

Where should I download the SigmaTel Audio drivers from if not from Dell's website?

I finally got those SigmaTel drivers to reinstall, but it took extremely long (definitely not normal) for the setup program to finish. It eventually got to the "Installation complete" screen (talking two hours here), but after hitting the "finish" button, the program stopped responding for good. After one lost day and all the frustration, I'm not gonna touch these #$@*ing audio drivers again. It would be nice to read some comment from DELL about the SigmaTel drivers. Until then... don't touch the audio drivers!
