Windows on a Convertible Touchscreen

Hope I'm putting this in the right place, but anyway...

I was recently thinking about buying a new computer. More specifically a Dell XPS Convertible 2-in-1 Touchscreen Ultrabook, but before I consider further into buying one I wanted to know something.

I'm not a big fan of windows 8, but I do like windows 7, and I was wondering if this computer is compatible for windows 7 or if it would be considered too old of a program?

Warm Greetings,

Well Windows 7 is not touch compatible straight out of the box but later on Microsoft launched 'Microsoft Touch Pack'  through which touch compatibility was being introduced and added to Windows 7. Although, Touch In Windows 7 works upto a certain extent but not as good and is not very much compatible with apps as Windows 8 which is truly designed for touchscreen devices. A lot more touch Apps are supported by Windows 8 than Windows 7.tra

As you mentioned you are planning to buy Dell XPS 12 2 in 1 Convertible Touch Ultrabook, You may request Dell that you want Windows 7 as your Operating System instead of Windows 8 as Dell still sells PC's and Laptops with Windows 7. There's a very good chance for you to get the desired ultrabook as this product was initially launched with Windows 7.

I suggest you to stick with Windows 8, rather Windows 8.1 now, to make your ultrabook future proof and be able to use it's touch feature upto the full extent.

I suggest that you should also consider having a look at New Dell XPS 15 (with 4th Gen Processor, Windows 8.1, Nvidia GT 720 Graphic Card,QHD Touch Display) as this ultrabook is the Best Ultrabook (is way better than XPS 12 2 in 1 convertible ultrabook) on the Planet and can outrun Apple Macbook Pro easily in terms of Performance and Pricing.

Windows 7 isn't designed for a touchscreen - if you use it, you will have a limited ability to use touch -- but you will lose most of the touch functionality.
