Won't boot. Cap Num Scroll Lock on.

Hi,

I Have an Inspiron 1520, 2gb ram, 8400M GS

I installed a webcam driver and tried to reboot.
Num-lock Scroll-Lock Caps-Lock on not flashing. No beeps. No dell logo. After 5 secs, it restarts. I don't have a battery. The power indicator is on. My AC adapter light is also on.

What I've tried so far:
Removed both 512 ram 1 at a time and still the same results. Tried other ram.
Unplugged and plugged back in the CMOS battery.
The battery works on another laptop.
Removed WLan card.

So does this confirm that the mobo is indeed dead?

hi,

If the caps lock and the num lock is steady and it doesnt go off and on, it is a Hardware failiour. Depending on the indicators, hardware needs to be replaced.

Yes. With all the symptoms this is a hardware issue. Most probably Motherboard.

Hi,

Welcome to the community

Possible hardware failure. Can you try to remove the hard drive? Then turn on the computer w/o the drive? Can you check what will happen if you press the caps lock key when every Lock Leds are on.

Regards,

Thanks for the reply.

I forgot to mention that I also tried previously removing the hard drive and optical drive as well, but still the same results.

Nothing seems to happens when I press the caps lock key.
