No, a combo jack socket does not have enough contacts for stereo. If you look a headset plug with 4 segments (TRRS) those match the contacts. There is a common ground, 2 for the stereo output to headphones or line-out, leaving one for a mono input.
You need a usb audio adapter with line-in. Skip the cheaper ones because those only have a mic input. It has to have dedicated line-in jacks.
