Hi jvanho01,

As I understand from this query that when restarting/starting the system, you should directly see the desktop instead of going to the BIOS screen and then loading the Windows. This feature is not available and the only option you can try is 'Hibernate/sleep' however once you wake the system from 'Hibernate/sleep' it would ask for a password but will not take you to the Dell splash screen.

I hope this helps.

Please let me know in case of any queries.

Thanks and regards

Hi Harish,

Your reply is what I was afraid of.  I really don't need that kind of security I don't need as this laptop

never leaves my home.

Thanks for the reply.

Hi jvanho01,

As I mentioned in the earlier post you can not skip the Dell splash screen. As a workaround I can suggest that you hibernate or put the system in sleep mode. Once you wake your system from Sleep/Hibernate you will not see the Dell Splash screen but it will take you to the password. The following link will hep you to disable the password on Windows 8:

Once the password is disabled, everytime you wake your system from Sleep/Hibernate you will not see the password screen. Just a single click on the User profile and you will be seeing the desktop.

Please let me know in case of any queries.

Thanks and regards
