XPS 15 Sound Disappears on Hand Rest
Hi all,
I'm using a new Dell XPS 15. I have this laptop for about two weeks. Today is my first day trying to watch a movie on this laptop. Whenever I rest my hand on the hand rest or whatever you want to call it, the sound disappears.
To me this cannot be a feature. Must be design flaw. Does anyone experience this? Please advice so I can get this ship back to Dell.
Thank you.

Hi Hoan,
Welcome to the Community.
Restart the computer and tap F8 key to access Advance Boot Options.
Highlight Safe Mode and hit Enter and check if the issue occurs there as well.
If the issue persists, I would suggest you to update the BIOS and the audio driver. Please click the link mentioned below which will take you to the drivers website:
http://dell.to/QjjZDA
Enter the Service Tag of the computer and choose the Operating System installed on the computer. Update the latest BIOS and the audio driver.
If the issue is not fixed after updating the BIOS and the driver, I would suggest you to connect external speaker or headphone to check if it is an issue with the speakers.
Please keep me posted with the results.
Thanks & Regards

Hi Hoan,
Thank you for the reply.
It seems to be an issue with the speakers.
I have added you as a friend. Please accept my friend request by clicking on my name highlighted in blue and then click on “Friends” tab at the top and then click on “Request to Review” and finally click on “Accept” button.
I am sending you a private message as well. Click on “Inbox” to respond to the message and provide system’s Service Tag and name listed on the account so I may access your system records and check for further course of action. You could also click on Start Conversation to send a private message.

Thank you for the speed reply. Sound disappearance when resting my palm on the palm rest is not related. When I don't rest my palm on the laptop then it's okay.
I already updated the BIOS to the latest version. I will now try using my headset.

"It seems to be an issue with the speakers." I agree with you. And I think something is loosed inside or bad wiring. I will return this to my company and ask them to send it back to Dell for a replacement unit.
Thank you for the help.
