XPS M1330 Delivery Time
Hello People,
Now i'm sure this topic has covered alot of mileage with you all, but I need your help, primarily aimed at those in the UK who recently ordered your M1330 and have recieved it.
The simple reason for this posting is to determine whether Dell's estimated delivery date given to me is accurate as there's been alot of negative feedback online within the last 6months about this.
I've ordered the M1330 with the following spec
-
XPS M1330 CORE 2 DUO T7500 2.20GHz,800,4M
-
13.3" WXGA (1280x800) White-LED Display with TrueLife
-
Biometric Fingerprint Reader
-
Tuxedo Black & 0.3 mega pixel Camera for White-LED Display
-
Memory Dual-Channel 2048MB (2x1024) 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM
-
Hard Drive 250GB Serial ATA (5400RPM)
-
8xDVD+/-RW Slim Slot-Load Drive, including SW
-
Primary 6-cell 56WHr Li-Ion Battery
-
128 MB NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS 1
-
Intel® Next-Gen Wireless-N Mini-PCI Card, EUR
Has anyone had issues regarding this? As I don't want to book a day off work to find out that it's not going to happen (and waste time and money at home)
P.S. I've checked online and it still states that my laptop is in pre-production (awaiting parts) and is estimated to be delivered on or before the 14th February

Specs are similar to yours.
Abit annoying really as I was given the impression that Dell's delivery lead is 10 working days when I was placing the order.

Spain is the latest monkey for Dell, our online store settings are very small compared to the USA (Why Spain deserves worse shop online that USA?), and delivery times are multiplied by 3 or 4, I work in the market for videogames, film and television, I don't advise anyone who buys products on Dell online store.
I'm sorry, I love Dell's products, but this situations is ... very ugly.

This is a bit worrying! :(
I ordered my 1330 on 30th Jan. Estimated delivery on or before 15th Feb. Has been in Pre Prod since the 30th.
Fingers crossed it turns up, as I'm off to Australia for a month not too long after the 15th and only bought the laptop to take with me!!
I have emailed Dell Support for an update - will post when I receive a reply.

Well I got a response... A little bit confusing.
Thank you for contacting Dell Online Customer Services. Your current estimated delivery date is on or before 15/02/2008. Due to the popularity of the product our demand has exceeded supply. Our factory is working with our suppliers and Dell will always try and improve the delivery date on your order. There is a possibility that the order would be shipped out much earlier than expected.
So... demand is exceeding supply, but there's a possibility I may receive the machine earlier than expected! :)
Considering it's now the 12th and the Order Status is still Pre Prod, I'll be extremely impressed if Dell can turn it around and have it in my hands by the 15th.

Well, as expected Dell could not meet the 15th for delivery... I received an update this morning that the new delivery is still almost 3 weeks away (4th March).
Unfortunately I leave the country on the 3rd, so it's all a bit late for me! I didn't realise it would take nearly 5weeks (or longer if the date shifts again) to get a machine from Dell. This isn't a great experience.
As I required the laptop for my trip (it was the only reason I ordered it) I'm now exploring the options to cancel or get a guarantee that the laptop will be with me before the 3rd.
What really irks me about this is that I checked delivery/availability before ordering. There was nothing about the 1330's being delayed, and the info supplied indicated normal delivery would be 10 days. :(

Best of luck to you. :) I hope it turns up.
I emailed Customer Support asking for a guarantee of delivery before the 4th, or instructions on how to cancel.
I have just received an email back stating my machine is in final stages of production and may be with me in 24-48 hours!! What is going on?!?
I can understand Dell (to an extent) trying to cover their backs by giving an extended delivery date, but three weeks vs 48 hours is crazy - especially as 48 hours is basically the original delivery date!
Fingers crossed it turns up (for both of us)! :)

Yep, mine arrived on the original delivery date too! I think Dell's stock management / update system needs an overhaul!
Unfortunately mine appears to have a faulty Touchpad. :( Otherwise very impressed with the laptop, it's exaxctly what I was after (Minus a faulty touchpad of course!!)
I just hope they can get thos sorted before I leave the country!
