XPS M1330 problem
I am having issues with my computer; it is a Dell XPS M1330 laptop. I bought the computer in October and up until now it has been working great.
Two nights ago, I turned on my computer and it went to a black screen with 2 options; 1) running a repair program to help the computer find out what was the problem, and 2) start Windows normally. I choose the first option, it ran a series of tests and said that the computer could not repair itself automatically; it then gave me a restart button and a shut down button. I have gone through this so many times that I had the opportunity to click both which brought me back to the original page with 2 options.
I have referred to my XPS M1330 Owner's Manual and am in the process of running the Dell Diagnostic program from the Hard Drive (pg. 89); the computer passed the Pre-boot System Assessment which then gave me a message, Booting Dell Diagnostic Utility Partition... clicked on Test System... now I am in the process of running the Extended Test. I am 85% through the Extended Test and have received an "error code". I know that I should wait for the test to be complete but I am impatient and want to kind of know what I should be preparing for to fix my computer.
My error code said:
"Error Code 0F00:281C"
msg.DVDRW_32 non recoverable hardware error (Internal target failure)
Someone please help me!! Thanks so much!!

Thanks so much!! I will give them a call during working hours... I am waiting for all my tests to run so I can have a complete list of all my errors, hopefully that is the only one I have : )

The error is from a faulty hard drive that has developed bad sectors. If you're under warranty, call Dell and they'll ship you a replacement drive. If you're out of warranty, you will need to purchase a replacement drive (2.5" 9.5 mm SATA notebook drive - any will work) and reload everything.
If you did not receive a Windows disc with the system, you can order one:
