XPS M1530 Fingerprint Reader

So, i know there is a bunch of stuff out there about Upek, etc. but I have an interesting issue.  My XPS M1530 has the fingerprint reader, which I have used (through the Upek Protector Suite) to encrypt various files residing on my server, which I can access through Explorer over my home network.  Encrypting them was a simple task, achieved through a right-click option on the individual files, consolidating them into a single 'folder' with a .UEA extension.

My fingerprint reader started to play up about 6 months ago, and it never bothered me until tax time, and those encrypted files were needed.  Anyway, I have reinstalled the software and the fingerprint management suite, etc. etc. and it still will not allow me to open the files.  The error i receive is 'rnpipe: svr(psql::trayappsvr::00000001) not sound.

I can go into the control panel, and the fingerprint reader is working, even showing that a test swipe is registered.  However, if I click on 'Biometric Devices', it does now say that a reader is present.  Device Manager says its working properly as well.

So, any ideas anyone?

Thanks!
